Why I love my gym and other shower adventures.

I love my gym. The people are so nice. Well, most of them. But for some strange reason, everyone loves to talk to me when I'm in the shower. One lady who swims almost every day for an hour (and she's about 85 years old) asked me if she could try my shampoo. I said "sure!" and gave her some. In return, she gave me some of her body wash. The next time I was there, I saw her wearing these gloves in the shower. I asked her where she got them and she said she'd get me a pair. Sure enough, after our morning swim, she caught me in the vestiaire and gave me my gloves.

I've shared my shampoo with about half a dozen women in the last couple of months. Some have commented on my hair and asked me what I use (not that my hair is spectacular or anything), others have asked me for a favour when they forget to bring some. "E" came up to me and asked me for some shampoo last week, she mixed up her two bottles and couldn't remember which had shampoo and which one was the conditioner. As usual, I said "sure!" and although I only had a little bit, gave her enough for one washing.

Today as I was getting ready to leave after my workout, "E" came up to me and handed me two sample bottles: Neutrogena shampoo and conditioner, the same kind I had given her the week before. It was really unnecessary! I was so surprised at the kind gesture... the fact that she was so appreciative, the fact that she knew which kind of shampoo I had and found the same kind to give to me... It just made my day!

I love going to my gym. The people are so friendly and unassuming. I'm always in a great mood when I walk out of there!

Who's the Boss?

From the Iceman

Category: Misc Jokes
Who's the Boss?

All the organs of the body were having a meeting, trying to decide who was in charge.

The brain said: "I should be in charge, because I run all the body's systems, so without me nothing would happen."

The heart said: "I should be in charge, because I pump the blood and circulate oxygen all over the body, so without me you'd all waste away."

The stomach said: "I should be in charge, because I process food and give all of you energy."

Finally, the rectum said: "I should be in charge, because I'm responsible for waste removal."

All the other body parts laughed at the rectum and insulted him, so in a huff, he shut down tight. Within a few days, the brain had a terrible headache, the stomach was bloated, and the blood was toxic. Eventually the other organs gave in. They all agreed that the rectum should be the boss.

The moral of the story?

You don't have to be smart or important to be in charge... just an asshole.

White fluffy stuff, spinning, and 4 = 2.

1) The snow. Quite a pain in the *** during the week but on the weekends, it's actually quite nice. Even the shoveling part is therapeutic, on dirait...

2) Jack's spin class. Again. But I really really like him. His class I mean. That and the fact that my knee has been cooperating well.

3) Making Mythos plans with M. Dinner for 4 for 2... ;) Kinda like the Peking duck dinner for 6 for 2 with JW a few years back.

On drug addiction

I saw a few minutes of the tail-end of a documentary on heroin addiction in Vancouver. I have a pretty harsh opinion on what to do with that situation but of course, my opinion is uninformed and pretty much un-educated on the subject of sociocultural aspects of drug addiction. What IS there to do about it? If money was to be "injected" (no pun intended) into the cause, where should it be targeted? Where does the money go? Awareness? Education? Is there really a way to get someone/people who have clearly made it clear to themselves that they want to throw away their bodies/minds to give it up and live clean and healthy lives? I don't think people wake up and spontaneously decide to harm their bodies that way. Clearly, health is not a concern of theirs. Why spend billions of dollars trying to change 3 people's mind? Would these 3 people not have woken up one day and figured it out on their own?

Who, in Hollywood, has NOT been in rehab for some illegal drug addiction or another? Is the rate higher than it has been in the past? Is that perhaps the reason for most of the garbage TV we see playing on that box everyone's addicted to these days? Desperate Housewives? Deal or No Deal? Wife Swap? Come ON, how far are we willing to prostitute our attention span for a little entertainment?

But letting these heroin addicts die is obviously not the socially acceptable solution to the drug problem. So what is then?

Amethys, last minute, and scoring

1) Listening to Améthys at work.

2) Getting 2 interesting phone calls. More on that later.

3) Scoring with C, E, C, M and A. I just love that restaurant. The salad bar is the BEST! Chopped up broccoli, cauliflower, grated carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, chick peas, pasta salad, potato salad, honey-mustard dressing with cottage cheese... A bowl full of anti-oxidants!
